How we choose
Our editorial team picks shops we can stand behind, using objective, verifiable signals:
- A strong public reputation — a solid rating backed by a meaningful volume of real customer reviews.
- A track record of continuous operation in the community.
- Range and quality of services — the work you genuinely do well.
- Locally owned and operated, or a well-run local branch of a trusted banner.
- Authorized-dealer status, certifications or accreditation, where they apply.
- Verifiable standing with others in the trade — see 'How to rank higher' below.
How to rank higher: trade references
The one thing that moves a shop up the list is verifiable standing with others in the trade. Send a few trade references — suppliers, shops or partners you've genuinely worked with — and we'll send each a short note they can confirm with a one-word reply. Verified references elevate your ranking.
- We don't exclude anyone for how they bill — pay-as-you-go is completely fine. We simply like to elevate businesses others in the trade vouch for.
- References must be businesses you've genuinely worked with — we contact each one, once, and only count those that confirm.
- It's entirely optional. Your listing never depends on it.
